HERO PROFILE

Background Story

Only someone who has been to Saltwater Prison knows how well guarded this place is! If it wasn't for the mountains of gold in the safe next door, I would never have wanted to be in this hellhole. I was severely beaten and put cast-iron shackles on my hands and feet. Two heavily armed guards were assigned to me, as if I were a particularly dangerous criminal. Well, how can I not be proud here. They would have given me a housewarming party! The jailer who sits opposite me is called "Forest Razor". He interrogates everyone who gets here. "How many times do I have to tell you?! I quarreled with that crazy Tali! I don't know where she is!"— I growl through my teeth. The jailer is trying to get out of me where Tali is, but he won't succeed so easily. About the quarrel with Tali ― it's all true. Not a single living soul can stand it, even psychopaths like me. She's completely out of her mind! We are very similar in many ways: we both do not recognize the rules, but she goes too far. She would have set her prey on fire if she had the slightest chance! I've had enough of her antics! "So, Roll, you quarreled — because of what?" - the jailer asks, playing with bronze brass knuckles, which just a couple of moments ago left their marks on my face. I swear, as soon as I get out of here, I'll pull them off and get even with him properly. "Okay,"— I want to finish the interrogation as soon as possible to put my plan into action. I lean forward and, barely hiding my joy, I say: "You've heard about the great robbery of the Mithril caravan, haven't you? So, it was Tali and me! But..." My mind sinks into the memories of that eerie, intoxicating night. We set up a perfect ambush in a narrow valley. We planted explosives along the entire path of the Mithril caravan. The cherished hour was approaching. "Hey, stinky, I think we should just pounce on them, bomb everything and get away with the loot—bang!" Flames burst out of Tali's hand. She's obviously impatient to get busy. "You're crazy! You can't just spoil all the goods, we're robbing Reginald! Stick to the plan — we don't want it to turn out like last time, when all the gold was at the bottom of the river! And not a word about the damned jackals!" "Is it my fault that you can't swim? And anyway, that plan was perfect! Otherwise, you would never have let those Sand Claw jackals take advantage! Your plans are a continuous flight of fancy!" Here she took me away. "Ahem, okay. This time we will act according to plan… And anyway, put out the fire! The caravan is already nearby, you will betray us!" Soon I noticed a merchant caravan with goods on the horizon. It seems that the information I paid a tidy sum for was accurate. I waved to Tali, and she got ready to light the fuse. However, before the caravan reached the place where the explosives were planted, screams were heard from afar, and I saw a bunch of bandits who jumped out from the other side of the valley and rushed at the caravan. Those damned Sand Claws again! It looks like they have their eye on our product too. "Look at that! Plans are changing, go ahead! If we don't hurry, all the fun will end!" Tali was glad — now she didn't have to hold back. She ran towards the caravan, and I had no choice but to grab my weapon and rush after her. However, I didn't take into account something: Tali, this psychopath, didn't care about the caravan. She directed all her destructive magic at the Sand Claws. I screamed at her with all my might: "Hey! We are here for the goods, not for the Sand Claws!" "Well, no! I want revenge!" She had lost her mind again, which meant it was useless to talk to her. Worst of all, our fight with the Sand Claws allowed the caravan to escape freely with the cargo. As soon as the caravan disappeared, the Sand Claws attacked us with all their might. I think they were going to finish us off and then catch up with the caravan. Although the caravan is already gone, I still have a couple of surprises left! I opened fire and got close to Tali. Then with a shout, then with my hands, I directed her to where it was necessary. The bandits were following us―good, very good! As soon as we got to the place where the explosives were planted, I fired ― the explosion scattered our pursuers. When the smoke cleared, Tali and I went to inspect the battlefield. "That was GREAT!" said Tali, stepping on the charred, crunchy corpse of the bandit leader. "Great, of course! — I was furious, — We could have provided Sand Claws and caravan guards to each other, and we would have run away with the goods in a mess!" "Admit it, stinky, you had fun too, didn't you?" — insisted Tali. She was right, I had a lot of fun. I have to admit, I love this kind of mess. That is why they should not be allowed. If I let go of the reins like she did, I'll also become a scumbag, devoid of the remnants of reason. But you can't rely on luck in the Exiled Lands, otherwise you will die. A terrible death. "So you broke up?" — the jailer interrupts my story. "Well, yes," I reply dryly. I must say, Tali is a very strong fighter, and I was sorry to part with her. And this one keeps pushing: "And what? I raise my hands and shrug my shoulders, pretending ignorance: "I don't know and I don't want to know." Tali was probably in one of her few hiding places, but even if I quarreled with her, I wasn't going to give them away. The jailer rubs his brass knuckles, and his gaze turns icy. I understand that now I will be beaten again. boom! Suddenly, a fireball explodes right in front of the prison, and another guard runs into the room. There's panic on his face. "T-there's someone... arranging an escape!" he declares. Before he could finish, one of the walls in the interrogation room collapses and buries several unsuccessful guards. Seeing this, the jailer rushes away. Seeing a familiar figure through the dust, I want to laugh and cry at the same time. "Hey, stinky! I found out that weasel Walker caught you. What happened? Are you stuck in some kind of ditch?" Tali, laughing, unleashes one volley of magical fire after another on the newly arriving jailers. Here we go again! Again, this madcap has disrupted my plans! All the explosives that I planted under the walls of the prison to get into the safe are gone! She simply destroyed it! I can't believe it! But... frankly, I didn't expect her to run headlong to the most secure prison in the Exiled Lands, just to save me. For a moment, it even... touched me. Well, enough about that. Escaping from prison is fun, and I'm in for a harsh encounter with the face of one jailer! Oh, and this time I have plenty of backup plans!
